Proverbs 3:7-8 (msg) Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life!
In the movie Forest Gump when there was trouble, Jenny said Run Forrest Run, and without any hesitation he would take off running. As a result of that absolute trust the running had a positive effect on his life.
This proverb tells us not to assume we know everything, but to run from evil and run to God. Many of us today have began to trust God less and trust our own intelligence to show us the way, assuming we know more than we do. Bottom line, there is only one response to temptation and wickedness. Run! You can’t negotiate with it. You can’t flirt with it, you must run from it and run to God. This is why Paul told Timothy “flee” (run from) youthful lusts. When potiphers wife tried to seduce Joseph he literally ran out of the house.
When we assume we know more than we do and are not teachable then we find ourselves trusting in ourselves that’s pride, it will end in a fall. So let’s have that innocent unassuming trust like Forrest and when the word says run, let’s not stand around analyzing how strong we are let’s immediately take off running. The promise is, if we run from evil and run to God, we will walk in health. So be teachable, run from evil, run to God, & live in health.
What are some ways you run?
